Conference Scope
Sustainability is a topical issue. The idea of sustainability was first defined in 1987 in a Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development: "Sustainability means being able to satisfy current needs without compromising the possibility for future generations to satisfy their own needs". Ten year later, three dimensions of sustainability were underlined through the concept of the Triple Bottom Line: Environment; Economy; Society. Therefore, sustainability is interdisciplinary and it implies a holistic approach and regards all the aspects of human being life. A relevant is played by the Industry. Focusing on Design and Manufacturing, sustainability must be considered from the concept to the end of life of any industrial product.
